“relentless change” reflects Mount Rainier as something living, shifting, and endlessly becoming. Inspired by Bruce Barcott’s description of the mountain as “forever falling,” the piece explores the tension between strength and fragility through thick, glacial textures and hand-knit and embroidered forms that appear to unravel, drift, and reform. The mountain, like all of us, becomes a record of its own motion - erosion, thaw, collapse, growth, and regrowth - reminding us that even the most enduring things are constantly in the process of changing, and it's never too late to become something (or someone) new.
